Topic: Behaviour - Happy drugs for happy visits - the benefits of previsit pharmaceuticals in Companion Animal Practice
Presented by Jess Beer
Jess qualified from Massey University with BVSc in 2002 and then work in small animal practice in the UK for almost 10 years before returning home to Auckland. She gained her MANZCVS in Veterinary Behaviour in 2014 and since then has worked part time in general practice, as well as running a team offering private referral practice for behaviour problems. Jess currently lives in Auckland with 3 cats and 2 infant bipeds, as well as a new puppy. One of her goals, is to help prevent behaviour problems with appropriate behaviour advice on training and environmental management. Jess is keen to educate and support more vets in general practice with the enigma that is Behaviour! Topic: Dental - Periodontal disease overview and five common referral cases
Presented by Janine van Dam
Janine lives in St Martins, Christchurch with her husband, three children, three Flemish Giant rabbits and eight free range guinea pigs. She graduated from Massey University with a BVSc in 1997, and worked as a general vet, for many years in New Zealand, Australia and England. Janine attained her Membership in Small Animal Dentistry and Oral Surgery from the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in July 2016. She then started a company called Pet Dentistry, and began locuming and seeing dental referrals in Christchurch. Now Janine only works with dental cases, and receives referrals from all around the South Island. Last year Janine visited around ten vet clinics in New Zealand doing in clinic training for vets and nurses. She has also assisted dental specialist Dr Tony Caifia and Dr Geraldine Gorman at many workshops here in Christchurch and also assisted at workshops run by the NZVA. Janine is passionate about animal dentistry and it is her aim to educate pet owners about dental health and also to help veterinarians provide the best dental care to their clients that is available.

Presented by Helen Orbell
Helen graduated from The University of Queensland in 2001 and has worked as a small and large animal vet in New Zealand, Australia, the US and the UK. She obtained ANZCVS membership in Small Animal Medicine in 2007 and worked in the Community Practice at Massey for several years. She completed a residency with the Animal Dermatology Clinic and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 2021. Helen has recently opened her own clinic – the Referral Animal Skin Hospital (RASH) – in Palmerston North and the team also travels to Wellington and Hastings.
