Full Membership

Veterinary Nurses, Technologists and Technicians that hold a formal qualification that is recognized by the New Zealand Veterinary Nursing Association. E.G.

• National Certificate or Diploma in Veterinary Nursing
• Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (UCOL, Unitec and Wintec)
• Bachelor of Veterinary Technology (Massey)
• Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing (EIT and Unitec)
• Some qualifications from America, Australia, Britain and Canada.

You will be asked to upload your qualification as proof of qualification during the online enrolment process.

Associate Membership

Is open to those working in practice or associated fields including but not limited to receptionists, veterinary support staff and industry supporters.

Allied Veterinary Professionals that hold a qualification that does not meet the criteria for Full Membership are also eligible for associate membership.

Anyone else that has has a genuine interest in the care and science of animals, and have an interest in the aims and objectives of he NZVNA may also apply for associate membership.

Associate Members do not have voting rights and may not hold Office within the Association. Associate members can become Full Members on completion of a recognized veterinary nursing qualification.

Student Membership

Is available to those that are enrolled in a NZVNA recognized Veterinary Nursing, Animal Care or Rural Animal Technology course.

The student membership is offered for courses commencing in a new academic year and the offer ends in September of that year. Enrolled students will need to provide proof of enrollment as a student to be eligible for the student rate.

Student members can become Full or Associate members at the end of their studies upon proof of qualification.

International Membership

This membership is for those that are not currently residing in New Zealand but work as veterinary nurses and veterinary technician and hold recognized qualifications.

Criteria for overseas membership is the same as for NZ membership but you are not able to serve on the Executive Committee or have voting rights. You are also unable to have the membership benefit of vitae support.
