The NZVNA Vet Nurse of the Year Award recognises and celebrates the outstanding contribution veterinary nurses make to the health and wellbeing of animals, the veterinary profession, and the communities they serve.

Established in 2013 and proudly sponsored by Hills Pet Nutrition NZ, this prestigious annual award honours a veterinary nurse who consistently demonstrates excellence in patient care, professionalism, leadership, and commitment to advancing the veterinary nursing profession.

Award Criteria

Nominees will be assessed on their achievements and contributions over the previous 12 months, including:

• Delivering exceptional patient care and outstanding client service.
• Supporting and strengthening the veterinary healthcare team while adding value to their practice.
• Demonstrating innovation, initiative, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Completing relevant continuing professional development and ongoing education.
• Professional qualifications and commitment to lifelong learning.
• Years of service and continued dedication to the veterinary nursing profession.

Nominations for the 2026 NZVNA Vet Nurse of the Year Award are now open.

We encourage nominations from employers, veterinary practice staff, clients, colleagues, and industry representatives who wish to recognise an exceptional veterinary nurse making a real difference.
